Enhanced General Calculator

Supports arithmetic, parentheses, decimals, %, powers, roots, logs, abs, reciprocal, π, and e.

Result
-
Supported functions: sqrt(x), abs(x), ln(x), log(x)
Use ^ for powers, for example 12^2 or 25^(1/2).
Statistical Tools

Z-Score from Service Level

Input a cumulative probability / service level as a decimal, such as 0.90, 0.95, or 0.99.

Result
-

Service Level from Z-Score

Input a z-score to find the cumulative probability / service level.

Result
-

Standardization Tool

Formula: z = (x − mean) / standard deviation

Result
-

Mean and Standard Deviation Helper

Enter numbers separated by commas. Example: 10, 12, 15, 20, 23

8. Intro to Inventory Management
This section lists the chapter formulas only. Use the Enhanced General Calculator above to compute answers.

Chapter 8 Formulas

Inventory Turns = Flow Rate / Inventory
Days of Supply = Inventory / Flow Rate

9. Supply Chain Management
This section lists the chapter formulas only. Use the Enhanced General Calculator above for arithmetic, powers, and square roots, and use the Statistical Tools above for z-scores and service levels.

Chapter 9 Formulas

Stockout Probability = Number of stockouts / Total items
In-Stock Probability = 1 − Stockout Probability
On-Order Inventory = Lead Time × Mean demand
On-Hand Inventory = √(L + 1) × Standard Deviation × z
Holding Cost per Unit = h × (On-Order Inventory + On-Hand Inventory) / Mean demand

10. Forecasting
Simple Chapter 10 formulas are listed for the Enhanced General Calculator. Additional Chapter 10 methods use the input panels below.

Formula-Only Items

Forecast Error (FEt) = Actual - Forecast
Squared Error = (FEt)^2
Absolute Error = ABS(FEt)
MSE = Average of squared forecast errors
MAE = Average of absolute forecast errors
Naïve Forecast = Last realized value
Moving Average Forecast = Sum of last T realized values / T
Forecast Combination = Average of individual forecasts

Exponential Smoothing

Formula: ŷt+1 = (α × yt) + ((1 − α) × ŷt)

Result
-

Seasonality Index

Formula: SI = Target Period Total Demand / Average Demand Across Total Time Periods

Example: SI = Total demand for a month / Average demand across all months in the year

Result
-

Seasonal Forecast

Formula: Forecast = Smoothed Base × SI

11. Inventory Management Models
This section adds panel-based calculators for Chapter 11 only. Use these tools for EOQ, Newsvendor, and the Order-Up-To model. All results below round to 2 decimals.

EOQ / Optimal Order Quantity

Use when demand is steady and orders can be placed repeatedly.

Q* = sqrt((2 × K × R) / h)

Outputs: Q*, Average Inventory, Annual Ordering Cost, Annual Holding Cost, and Total Relevant Cost.
Result
-

Total Annual Cost at Any Q

Use to compare feasible quantities when there are constraints or quantity choices.

C(Q) = (K × R / Q) + (h × Q / 2)

Result
-

Newsvendor Costs

Use when there is a single order opportunity and unsold items lose value.

Cu = Price − Cost
Co = Cost − Salvage
CR = Cu / (Cu + Co)

Result
-

Newsvendor Optimal Order Quantity

This panel finds z from the Critical Ratio, then computes Q* = μ + zσ.

Result
-

Order-Up-To Model

Use when inventory is reviewed periodically and you order enough to top up to a target level S.

z = NORM.S.INV(Service Level)
Pipeline = Mean × L
Safety Stock = z × σ × sqrt(L + 1)
S = Pipeline + Safety Stock
Inventory Position = On Hand + On Order − Backorders
Order Quantity = S − Inventory Position
